Russia: An Optical Illusion is a four-part scripted documentary podcast.
It explores the abyss between the country's pre-2022 image as a
modernising state en route to democracy and the harsh reality of Putin’s
Russia. Did Russians and foreigners fall for this optical illusion, or
chose to close their eyes to the harsh reality behind it? Each of the four
episodes deconstructs and analyses the reputation laundering and
manipulation of public opinion that helped the country's leadership mask
what it has been all along: an imperialist project.
